Allan Boyer has been named the new Chief Operating Officer of SERV Centers of New Jersey, a company of SERV Behavioral Health System, Inc. He began his new position on July 1.
Prior to joining SERV, Mr. Boyer served as CEO of Ancora Psychiatric Hospital, New Jersey's largest state psychiatric hospital with a capacity of 709 beds, a 650-acre campus, over 1,600 employees, and an operating budget of $110 million.
He has more than 25 years' experience in administrative/operations and fiscal/grants management. He has held senior executive positions at major healthcare systems in New Jersey and was president of Allan Boyer Associates, a healthcare consulting company in West Long Branch.
Mr. Boyer said his early career involved community-based behavioral health care and he is eager to return to it at SERV. "I look forward to doing what I can to improve the lives of the underserved and contributing to their leading successful lives in the community."
The new COO received his master's degree in psychology from the New School for Social Research in New York and a bachelor's degree in biology/psychology from Bates College, Maine. He is a member of the N.J. Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies and the Behavioral Health Constituency Group of the New Jersey Hospital Association.
Mr. Boyer replaces William O'Brien, who recently retired from SERV after 11 years of service.
